Fredagsmys -

Jamaica day 7!
Another lazy day at the hotel, we're loving it. Snorkelling, sunbathing, reading books. It was quite rainy today so we decided to have a cozy friday. We bought some beer and cookies and stuff and played a lot of yatzy, trying out different versions of it. Then it rained some more. And some more. It doesn't rain lightly here, it pours. In like a second. When you realise it's about to start raining, you better move your ass fast unless you want to get wet. After a while we did end up getting hungry, so me and Albin borrowed umbrellas and headed out in the pouring rain. The streets had already turned into floods and we had to jump around not to get wet, well - more wet than what was unavoidable. What did we get for cozy friday, you wonder? Pizza, obviously! There is a "german bar" a bit down the road from where we are staying, which make great and cheap pizzas. The guy was super sweet and the pizzas were made with a lot of engagement and a lot of time. Me and Albin headed over to "Mi Yard" across the street while waiting and had some kind of fried and salted bread plant and bananas and stuff. I used to come here a lot the last time I was in Jamaica, and it was exactly the same. Super strange and delicious. And then we had pizza on our veranda while the rain kept on pouring down. Yum.

Bob's Bday Bash!

Jamaica day 6! (part 2)
In the evening we first went to the Canoe restaurant (where we had our happy hour fiesta the other day) for dinner and steel drums. Gorgeous! The sounds of those drums really is magical. The place was super crowded though, because of the rain and the Bob Marley Bash going on next door. The bash was our final destination of the night and we went there at about 11,30 in the evening. I have never been in a place that smells more of weed. You could see the smoke covering the area. And oh, the characters in this place!

When we arrived there was a girl on stage, singing some and talking a lot. The talking was better than the singing. One love. Peace. Unity. After another so-so artist a guy came up who was really good, and after him the main act Marcia Griffiths took the stage. She was awesome! All in all it was a really good evening and night. Im glad we stuck around through those first acts, even though it's a miracle we managed to stay up so late. Happy birthday Bob!

Snorkelling

Jamaica day 6! (part 1)
Went on a snorkelling tour this morning. A boat picked us up and after collecting a few more people we went out to one of the reefs. Beautiful! Lots and lots of different types of fish, some squid, lobster and rays. An old canon "from them pirates man" and a huge old anchor. Swam around for about an hour and then went back on the pretty boat ride. It was Valle's first time snorkelling and it was nice to see him enjoying himself. There are not that many Swedes here, but we managed to get the one couple in our boat. What are the chances! They were from Hägersten, and very friendly. We decided to try and plan a trip together one day. When we got back to the hotel we had lunch (snorkelling really makes you starve!) and enjoyed the sun. Got some studying done for tomorrows seminar and then rested to be able to stay up for tonights live steel drum performance and then the Bob Marley Birthday Bash!

Rum rum rum

Jamaica day 5!
Started the day with a study-date with Moa, going through our questions for Fridays seminar. We are discussing Conrad's novel Heart of Darkness. Can't say I'm a fan. Then had breakfast, yum - banana (-and rum of course!) pancakes! We spent more time in the sun, playing soccer and snorkelling.

Went for lunch at Xtabi, a nice restaurant/hotel on the cliffs, it was crazy hot and I don't know if it was me or the ice cream I had for desert that melted the fastest. We had a nice walk back and made it just before todays rain started pouring. Rested, met the hotel turtles, studied more to have everything ready for the next online meeting and watched the sunset from the cliffs. Then got ready for dinner at Push Cart where Drew was once again playing with his band The Overtakers. Awesome energy. And dinner was great. I had a nice Jamaican vegetable soup and for desert we tried the Jamaican Rum Cake (with rum-sauce. Again; of course). Delicious!

Fell asleep super early. It's been a long hot day. It's so nice waking up in the morning not having to do anything, just spend the day in the sun. Resting when you want to, eating when you feel to, swimming when you want to. Just whatever you want whenever you want it. But tomorrow morning we are getting up to go on a snorkelling tour.
